Polymer‐Based Lubricating in 3D Printing
Abstract Polymer‐based lubricating is significant in industrial engineering devices and moving components, making things go faster, slow down, or lodge in place. Polymer‐based 3D‐printed impregnated lubricating composites have several potential applications in innovative sectors, including biomedical, aerospace, and automotive, because of their low weight, corrosion resistance, low noise, and long‐term lack of maintenance. Polymer‐based lubricants fabricated by 3D printing routes offer unique advantages, including tailored compositions, precise structures, and optimized lubrication efficiency, thereby addressing specific industry needs with unprecedented customization and durability. This article discusses recent advances in the use of lubricating polymers in 3D printing and studies these lubricants in detail, their properties, and impact on 3D printing. It also highlights the important role these lubricants play in reducing wear and friction during 3D printing. Meanwhile, the effects of different lubricants on the print quality, surface finish, tribological properties, and mechanical properties of 3D‐printed objects are also discussed. Furthermore, the compatibility of lubricating polymers with diverse 3D printing materials and techniques is highlighted, indicating potential challenges and identifying areas that necessitate additional research and development. This review is an excellent resource for researchers and industry experts who want to make the most of polymer lubricants for 3D printing technology development.
