A STUDY ON THE WATER QUALITY ANALYSIS OF POMA RIVER OF ARUNACHAL PRADESH
The river water quality analysis is crucial to evaluate the quality of river health and ecosystem of the river ensuring the river water is safe for public consumption and promoting the sustainable management of river before it is severely contaminated. The several studies has been conducted by the previous researcher related to river water quality, many of them focuses on the river which are highly polluted leaving vast area of research in less industrialized yet ecologically sensitive river like Poma river, which is major source of water for Itanagar, capital of Arunachal Pradesh and population settling around the Poma basin. The present research focuses to identify the physical, chemical and organic pollutant like DO, BOD, chlorides, temperature, turbidity and alkalinity of Poma River as a holistic approach to identify the present water quality and to suggest sustainable methods to preserve the pristine nature of river by community involvement and to protect from further degradation. The recent study reveals that the water in Poma River is still in pristine and unpolluted condition, free from all anthropogenic activities.
