COMPOSTING OF WASTE MATERIAL GENERATED FROM MIXTURE OF DOMESTIC WASTE AND MANGO TREE LEAVES
This study looks at ways to handle organic waste on the NERIST campus where a big amount of waste is made each day and it can harm the environment if left unmanaged. Each individual at NERIST produces 300-500 grams of waste daily.Entire India on a yearly basis creates nearly 62 million tons of organic waste. The study looks at composting as an environmentally friendly way to handle waste with a focus on breaking down fallen mango leaves together with kitchen scraps and farm waste. It looks at how microorganisms work, the positive effects and the nutrient make-up of compost produced in a controlled setting. The components measured for better efficiency of compost are moisture content, temperature, pH, humidity, carbon content, electrical conductivity and total nitrogen. The main aim is to cut down on the pollution that comes from burning mango leaves and use compost which is high in nutrients instead of chemical fertilizers.
