Impact of Line-side and Client-side Errors Using Iterative and Non-Iterative Decoding for Concatenated KP4-BCH FEC

We analyze the performance of iterative and non-iterative decoding of concatenated KP4-BCH FEC. Client-side errors at the transmitter lead to discrepancies between BCH and RS decoders. Nevertheless, iterative decoding improves the tolerance to client-side errors.

Abstract

We analyze the performance of iterative and non-iterative decoding of concatenated KP4-BCH FEC. Client-side errors at the transmitter lead to discrepancies between BCH and RS decoders. Nevertheless, iterative decoding improves the tolerance to client-side errors.
