Use of Cubic Equations of State with Association Terms in Dynamic Modeling
To simulate the hydrodynamics of reservoirs, it is necessary to solve the problem of calculating multiphase equilibrium. There is a generally accepted approach to modeling vapor-liquid equilibrium, but this approach is not a good fit for approximation of systems with water, alcohols, glycols, and alkanes. To model such systems, it is proposed to use modifications of the equation of state, for example, the equation of state with an association term, or Henry's law. Many commercial hydrodynamic simulators support the calculation of multiphase equilibrium using Henry's law, including its modifications, as well as the Whitson–Søreide modification of the equation of state. The main purpose of this work is to consider whether it is possible to use a cubic equation of state with an association term for modeling of reservoir development.
