Educación sobre la hipertensión arterial a los habitantes del barrio Luz de América
Arterial hypertension constitutes, according to the World Health Organization, one of the main causes of premature mortality worldwide. The absence of previous research in the "Luz de América" neighborhood demonstrated an urgent need to address this pathology. This study aimed to implement and evaluate pedagogical strategies for education on arterial hypertension in this population. Using a quasi-experimental design, we worked with a sample of 120 inhabitants over 18 years of age, with or without HTN diagnosis, who voluntarily agreed to participate in the research. Data collection was carried out through two validated instruments: initially a questionnaire evaluating hypertension knowledge in rural adult populations, and after the intervention, an instrument measuring the level of preventive knowledge about arterial hypertension in adult primary care populations. The results demonstrated the effectiveness of the educational intervention, showing significant improvements in the identification of normal blood pressure parameters, understanding of healthy eating habits, and awareness of modifiable risk factors such as alcohol consumption and sedentary lifestyle.
