A 60GHz Four-Stage Cascaded LNA for 802.11ad Protocol with 22.3db Gain and 3.45 Noise Figure
This paper introduces a 60GHz low noise amplifier (LNA) designed in a 65nm CMOS process, addressing the challenge of optimizing gain and noise figure (NF) simultaneously in millimeter wave LNAs. The amplifier uses L-type and π-type matching networks for input and output matching. The common-source LNA with source degeneration is analyzed. By eliminating the source degradation inductance in the four-stage LNA, overall gain and noise performance are improved. Post-simulation results demonstrate that the LNA can achieve a gain of 19.90~22.3dB and a NF of 3.45~3.66dB at 57~66GHz. The amplifier's performance is competitive with similar LNAs in terms of frequency and bandwidth.
