A Low-Power Passive BLE Wake-Up Receiver with Single Sideband(SSB) Backscatter System
This paper presents the design and implementation of a Low-Power Passive BLE Wake-up Receiver, which is integrated with a Single Sideband (SSB) Backscatter System. The proposed system achieves remarkable energy efficiency, consuming only 200 nW for On-Off Keying (OOK) and 2.8 μW for Bluetooth Low Energy Gaussian Frequency Shift Keying (BLE-GFSK). Notably, during BLE broadcast backscatter at 1.0 Mbps, the system achieves an energy consumption as low as 2 pJ/bit. The system is fabricated using a 55 nm CMOS process, occupying a total area of 0.46 mm2, including I/O pads, and fully satisfies the stringent power requirements of energy-harvesting IoT applications.
