Performance Analysis of Near Field XL-MIMO System using SWOMP Channel Estimation for Uniform Linear Array Antennas
MIMO system with extremely large number of array antennas is commonly used in 5G/6G communications. The near field electromagnetic spherical wase is a dominating field in the XL-MIMO system and it involves both Line of Sight (LoS) and Non-Line of Sight (NLoS) path components between transmitter and receiver. Here, Uniform Linear Array (ULA) antenna is considered at both ends. The channel model for the LoS and NLoS path components are derived by considering the sparsity and polar domain representation in this paper. The channel estimation is performed for the near field components using Simultaneous Weighted Orthogonal Matching Pursuit (SWOMP) algorithm and the results are compared with existing channel estimation techniques.
