Power efficient GSM-HMPAPM for Visible Light Communications

Visible Light Communication (VLC) systems have emerged as a promising technology to support high-speed data transmission using light-emitting diodes (LED’s). Despite their potential, traditional modulation techniques face limitations in efficiency, spectral utilization, and compatibility with advanced VLC applications. This paper investigates the power and bandwidth requirements of Generalized Spatial Modulation – Multi Pulse Amplitude Position Modulation (GSM-MPAPM) and we propose a new algorithm to improve the same. By integrating a Hybrid algorithm for the Pulse position modulation in GSM-MPAPM we could achieve significant decrease in power consumption and bandwidth requirements. We propose a novel hybrid modulation technique called Generalized Spatial Modulation–Hybrid Multi Pulse Amplitude Position Modulation(GSM-HMPAPM). Theoretically, our modulation has shown an power consumption of 3.6075P<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">ook</inf> whereas for the same parameters the existing GSM-MPAPM requires 7.15P<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">ook</inf>. Practically, we achieved results proportional to theoretical values which will be discussed further.
