Design and Development of a Mixed Reality Maintenance Training Guide for Electric Doors for Urban Railways
Railway operating organizations typically provide maintenance training for railway vehicle components using manuals and videos, which can make information-sharing challenging. Given the complexity of the railway maintenance environment, there is a strong need for systematic, adaptable training that equips workers with the necessary expertise. In response, this study developed mixed reality-based training guide specifically to support and enhance the management of maintenance tasks for electric-powered train doors. The maintenance procedures were presented visually using animations, text, and images, and an interactive cube object with an automatic rotation feature was included to improve visual clarity. To assess the effectiveness of this mixed realitybased guide, a User Experience Questionnaire was administered to 70 railway vehicle maintenance workers, yielding an average score of 5.43. This represents a 36 % increase in learning effectiveness over conventional video-based training.
