Residue Number System Enveloped Configurable Hardware Mutual Authentication Protocol
Cryptographic hardware plays a significant role in realizing secure systems. In E-Health applications, the rapid advancement of IoT technology faces severe issues with unauthorized access to patient records. Authentication is a significant problem in RFID-IoT technology. The primary purpose of this work is to emphasize the security threats posed by hardware devices and develop a novel RFID-enabled IoT Mutual Authentication Protocol (MAP). The Residue Number System (RNS) platform is used to evolve the protocol for the entity identification system by using parallel Dual Modulus {2n±1} Multiplier Function (DMMF) design, which is the core element and configurable. The architectures are designed and described using Verilog HDL, and a performance analysis is performed for TSMC CMOS 180 nm, 90nm, and 45 nm technology. FPGA implementation of Residue Number System Mutual Authentication Protocol (RMAP) is ported in Zynq (XC7Z020CLG484-1). From the analysis, RMAP prevents various attacks, which can be efficiently utilized for secure wireless communication applications.
