Enhancing Emergency Response with Real-Time Video Analytics for Natural Disaster Management
Natural disasters pose severe risks to human life and infrastructure, necessitating efficient and rapid response systems. Traditional disaster response mechanisms often struggle with delays in data acquisition and processing, hindering effective management. The unpredictability and variability of disasters require timely and accurate responses, which are often compromised by latency issues in current management systems that largely depend on manual reporting and satellite data. We introduce an advanced disaster management system utilizing real-time video analytics powered by deep learning to enhance the speed and accuracy of emergency responses. This system integrates live video feeds from various sources with AI-driven analytics to identify and classify disaster events instantaneously. The system is trained on a comprehensive dataset consisting of varied disaster scenarios captured through video and images, annotated for different types of disasters such as floods, fires, and earthquakes. This dataset enables the model to recognize and react to a variety of disaster events accurately. Preliminary results demonstrate the system’s ability to classify disaster types with an accuracy of 95%, significantly reduce response times, and maintain a precision of 91.8%. The continuous monitoring and real-time updates from the system enhance situational awareness and decision-making during crises. The proposed system illustrates the potential of integrating AI with emergency management practices, showcasing significant improvements in response times and accuracy. With a demonstrated high accuracy and precision, this approach not only saves lives but also reduces economic losses by enabling quicker and more effective disaster response strategies.
