Radar Parameter Estimation Algorithm for Small UAV Targets

As a typical radar point target, small UAVs have poor target estimation accuracy when traditional weighted methods are used. It is impossible to accurately estimate the target’s range and velocity, and under high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) conditions, the estimation results are not asymptotically consistent with the parameters to be measured. To improve the detection accuracy of radar for small UAVs, this paper deeply analyzes the radar signal processing process of small UAV targets, proposes a parameter estimation algorithm based on the joint calculation of the highest point and its adjacent points, and correspondingly presents an iterative solution method for transcendental functions encountered in the solution process. Simulation results show that this algorithm can obtain rangeDoppler estimation results close to the theoretical accuracy, and the computational complexity of the algorithm is controllable.
