Overcoming the Duality and Rivalry of Teaching: The Integrative Electrical Engineering Degree Program with Vocational Training Orientation
This paper presents the development and implementation of an integrative electrical engineering degree programme with vocational training orientation (180 or 210 ECTS credits, 6 or 7 semesters) in the field of electrical engineering. It is based on overcoming the traditional duality in the German educational and academic system by making the two career paths more permeable. Within the first semester, ETAUS students work full-time at the training company. During the lecture period, they attend regular courses at the faculty of electrical engineering at FH Aachen and continue to work at the company one day a week. At the end of the semester, a final mentoring discussion takes place so that the students can make an informed decision about their future educational path.
