Biometrics is the science of identification or verification of an individual according to physiological or behavioral attributes, eliminating the need for passwords or cards and so on. Common traits used for biometric authentication purposes are fingerprint, iris, face, voice frequency, and several others. With these software-based technologies evolving rapidly, unauthorized means of evading biometrics are known as spoofing or presentation attacks. It is interesting to note that fingerprint forgery dates back to 1920!
