The Removal of Organochlorine Compounds from Model Oil by Nucleophilic Substitution
The phase transfer nucleophilic substitution method was used to explore the removal of organochlorine compounds (OCs) from six chlorine-containing model oils and the kinetics of the dechlorination reaction of three chlorine-containing model oils (dichloroacetic acid, 1-chloro-2-methylpropane, and 1-chloro-4-ethylbenzene) in the temperature range of 348.15-378.15 K. By using eight different types of nucleophilic substitution dechlorinating agents, it was found that the removal of OCs was affected by the structure of the OCs and the nature of the dechlorinating agent, with a greater degree of electron cloud shift of the chlorine atoms in the OCs were more easily removed, and the dechlorinating agents with good alkalinity and suitable aqueous solubility were more suitable for use in the nucleophilic substitution reaction. The results of kinetic analysis showed that the dechlorination of dichloroacetic acid and 1-chloro-2-methylpropane can be considered as first-order reactions, the dechlorination of 1-chloro-4-ethylbenzene can be considered as a second-order reaction, and the activation energies of three OCs from low to high were as follows: dichloroacetic acid, 1-chloro-2-methylpropane, and 1-chloro-4-ethylbenzene.
