PERCURSO GERATIVO DE SENTIDO NUM REINO GOVERNADO POR LEÕES

The reason for producing this study was the need to meet the requirements for passing one of the stages of a doctoral course in Linguistics, held at UFSCAR (Federal University of São Carlos), linking this exam to the subject “Critical Approaches to the Literary Text”, taken off-site at UNESP, Ibilce, São José do Rio Preto. The aim of this paper is to apply the ‘Map of Functions’ by Vladimir Iakovlevich Propp – 1895-1970 (Propp's Map attached after the REFERENCES) to a Disney Studios film production (USA, 1994) called “The Lion King I” (WIKIPEDIA, 2025). Methodologically, the study is carried out by means of a bibliographical review, in which the authors grouped in this article establish interconnections with the proposed theme, and not exactly with Propp's structuralist theoretical approach. The results obtained in this context are very satisfactory, in that almost all of the 31 Propp’s functions are found in the narrative. The main bibliographical contribution is the work Morphology of the Marvelous Tale (PROPP, 2010).
