Status of the new high intensity laser facilities under construction in the UK: Extreme Photonics Application Centre and Vulcan 20-20
In this paper we present the current status of the Extreme Photonics Applications Centre (EPAC) and Vulcan 20-20 at the Central Laser Facility (CLF). EPAC has been designed to further the development and application of laser-driven accelerators in academic, industrial, medical and defence spheres. Vulcan 20-20 will offer a very significant enhancement to the Vulcan facility, to enable leading research in High Energy Density (HED) science and plasma physics at the QED threshold.
