Equivalent calculation and experimental study on power skiving of low-angle spur face gears based on four-axis machine tool

The low-angle spur face gear transmission has the advantages of compact structure, small axial force, good torque-split effect, and insensitivity to installation errors, which shows great advantages in transmission structures such as helicopters and ships. Due to the limitations of traditional hobbing and milling techniques, an equivalent power skiving method for low-angle spur face gears is proposed based on four-axis power skiving machine tool. Based on the principles and motion characteristics of power skiving, the four-axis machine tool power skiving model and motion transformation model are constructed, and the tooth surface equations and adaptive equivalent transformations are completed. Simulation analysis and power skiving experiments verification are conducted on this basis. The results prove the correctness of the proposed theory, which provides a theoretical basis for the popularization and application of low-angle spur face gears.
