HIPERTENSÃO ARTERIAL E       ACIDENTE VASCULAR ENCEFÁLICO: CORRELAÇÃO, PREVENÇÃO E TRATAMENTO

High blood pressure is a potential cause of stroke; effective prevention and treatment are essential to reduce this risk and preserve brain health. Systemic arterial hypertension (SAH) is a multifactorial clinical condition, characterized by high and sustained levels of blood pressure (BP), often associated with functional and/or structural changes in target organs, such as the heart, brain, kidneys and blood vessels. OBJECTIVES: To analyze pathophysiological causal relationships between systemic arterial hypertension and stroke, determine the influence exerted by pathological pressure values on brain vascular damage, report the pathophysiology of arterial hypertension and its systemic repercussions, define new perspectives in the treatment and management of hypertension and stroke. METHODOLOGY: This study is an integrative, exploratory-descriptive literature review, with a basic purpose, qualitative character, using Lilacs, Scielo and PubMed databases and longitudinal temporality. Original works, digital platforms from the World Health Organization and bulletins from the Ministry of Health that addressed current information on epidemiology, pathophysiology and correlation of both were included. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION: The results indicate that approximately 30% of the Brazilian adult population is hypertensive and that more than half of stroke cases are directly related to hypertension. FINALS CONSIDERATIONS: highlight the importance of preventive measures, such as lifestyle changes, pharmacological control and public health actions to mitigate the impact of these diseases. It is concluded that blood pressure control is essential to reduce the incidence of stroke and improve the population's quality of life.
