Analysis of Art Activities in Integrated Textbook Appendix Worksheet

This study analyzed the activity sheets related to art presented as appendices in the integrated subject textbooks based on the 2022 revised national curriculum, examining their functions and effectiveness. These activity sheets can serve as tools to support teaching and learning, as well as to promote students' self-directed learning. Given that integrated textbooks are responsible for art education in the lower grades of elementary school, the activity sheets included in these textbooks can serve as effective tools for conducting meaningful art activities. However, the activity sheets currently suggested in the textbooks present several issues: 1) the omission of fundamental art concepts, 2) limited modes of expression, 3) restricted range of materials, 4) disruption of developmental hierarchy, 5) the use of activity sheets that lack meaningful educational connection. As the art activities in these integrated textbook activity sheets serve as important teaching and learning resources for students in a critical stage of artistic development, it is essential that they be designed and provided in a way that encourages aesthetic exploration and holds significance as part of art education, taking into account both formative and aesthetic qualities.
