DEPLOYMENT OF IFM DD0203 CONTROLLER AND PROXIMITY SENSOR IN CULLET CONVEYOR SYSTEM: A CASE STUDY IN THE GLASS MANUFACTURING
Automation has emerged as a critical approach to enhance operational efficiency within the industrial sector. This research evaluates the efficacy of an automated system implemented on a belt conveyor at PT. X, a sheet glass production firm, used for the transportation of 124 tons of cullet (broken glass) daily. Prior to automation, the belt conveyor functioned for an average of 21.79 hours daily. Following the implementation of an automated system using the IFM DD0203 controller, Time Delay Relay, and proximity sensors, the operating length was decreased to 8.25 hours per day while maintaining transport capacity. Operational efficiency improved by 62.13%, indicating a substantial decrease in operational time. This research offers insights into the potential energy and cost reductions achievable via automation in material transportation networks. Iron plates and bearings when failing to detect cullet on the conveyor line.
