THE ROLE OF COMBINED PHYTOPROSTATOPROTECTORS IN THE COMPREHENSIVE TREATMENT OF PATIENTS WITH CHRONIC PELVIC PAIN SYNDROME ON THE BACKGROUND OF CHRONIC CALCULAR PROSTATITIS

The aim of the study – to evaluate the clinical effi cacy of the combined phytoprostateprotector «Voger» in the complex treatment of patients with chronic calculous prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CCP/CPPS). Materials and methods. 76 patients with CCP and CPPS aged 28 to 45 years were examined (mean age was 34.3±6.8 years), the duration of the disease was 1.2±0.4 years. The main group (MG) consisted of 43 men, who were prescribed «Voger» 1 capsule twice a day for a month in addition to standard treatment (non-steroidal anti-infl ammatory drugs, alpha- blockers, antidepressants in standard doses and regimens); the control group (CG) consisted of 33 men, who were given standard therapy for a month. A questionnaire, based on the chronic prostatitis symptom scale (NIH-CPSI), the international erectile function index (IEFI-5), International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS), digital rectal examination of the prostate (DRE); microscopic and bacteriological examination of the prostate secretion; transrectal ultrasound examination of the prostate (TRUS); a questionnaire based on the pain scale – visual analogue scale (VAS) were used during the examination.Results. The initial examination indicators in both groups of patients did not diff er signifi cantly. 1 month after treatment, the manifestations of pain syndrome in patients of both groups became slightly pronounced, however, in patients with MG, 1 month after treatment, the sum of the NIH-CPSI scores was almost 30.0 % lower than in the control group; erectile dysfunction in MG patients was not noted, and in GC patients there was some improvement in erectile function, statistically insignifi cant, which in points corresponded to erectile dysfunction of mild severity; the IPSS index improved in patients of both groups, but in MG 1 month after treatment it was 16.9 % lower than in GC patients; similar changes were recorded when determining the prostate volume, which in MG patients 1 month after treatment was 14.8 % smaller than in GC patients. The dynamics of pain in patients of both groups turned out to be most indicative during the second month from the start of treatment, when GC patients completed taking the drugs, and MG patients took «Voger». In OG there was a gradual decrease in the VAS scale from 3.5 to 1.0. In GC, the index gradually decreased during the fi rst 10 days, and then even slightly increased – to 2.1.Conclusions. The use of the complex phytoprostate protector «Voger» in the treatment of patients with CP/CPPS demonstrated eff ectiveness in 88.4 % of patients, in contrast to the results of treatment of patients with GC, where the eff ectiveness was 54.5 %. The main achievement of the treatment of patients with MG should be considered a signifi cant reduction in pain on the VAS scale, which was noted in 79.1 % after 1 month of taking «Voger». Further observation of patients with MG gives reason to believe that longterm use of «Voger» will increase the period of remission in patients with CP/CPPS and signifi cantly improve their quality of life.
