Digitale Prävention in der Hypertonieversorgung

The prevention of cardiovascular disease is a central concern of healthcare research - not least because high blood pressure remains one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality in Germany, despite being easily treatable. Gaps in care are particularly evident among older people and in rural regions. Digital health technologies, from health apps to online courses, promise a low-threshold supplement to traditional prevention. In practice, however, their reach, acceptance and effectiveness often fall short of expectations. Against this backdrop, the DiPaH - Digital Prevention Measures for Arterial Hypertension project, funded by the Innovation Committee of the Joint Federal Committee, investigated how digital health technologies can be integrated into healthcare in a targeted manner - with a particular focus on age-specific and regional differences.
