Consideration of the influence of the relativity theory for photonic circuits operation in space conditions

The key parameter of any photonic circuit (including the integrated circuit – PIC) is the refractive index. In this paper, the refractive index is represented by the component of the metric tensor: n = ε^(0.5) = g00^(0.5). Then the special relativity theory (SRT) is taken into account – the influence of velocity on the metric tensor is calculated, and the general relativity theory (GRT) – the influence of gravity. As an example, the difference in the photonic circuit operation on Earth and on Mars is presented.

Abstract

The key parameter of any photonic circuit (including the integrated circuit – PIC) is the refractive index. In this paper, the refractive index is represented by the component of the metric tensor: n = ε^(0.5) = g00^(0.5). Then the special relativity theory (SRT) is taken into account – the influence of velocity on the metric tensor is calculated, and the general relativity theory (GRT) – the influence of gravity. As an example, the difference in the photonic circuit operation on Earth and on Mars is presented.
