ECONOMIC RISKS OF DEPENDENCE ON IMPORTED ENERGY EQUIPMENT

Dependence on imported energy equipment poses significant economic and technological risks to the energy sector, especially amid geopolitical instability and sanctions. This article analyzes the direct and indirect consequences of import dependence, including increased maintenance and modernization costs, reduced technological sovereignty, vulnerable supply chains, and growing investment uncertainty. The paper considers alternative strategies for reducing reliance on foreign suppliers — such as domestic production localization, development of internal component bases, stimulation of R&D, and state support for critical energy engineering areas. The article concludes with the need for a strategic reassessment of the technical and economic model of the energy industry in light of evolving geoeconomic conditions.
