RESOURCES IN ACTION: THE DYNAMICS OF RESOURCING IN AN EDUCATIONAL ORGANIZATION
ABSTRACT This study explores the concept of resourcing, focusing on the transformation of resources by organizational actors in their daily practices, going beyond an economic approach of strategy. Through a single case study with an ethnographic approach conducted over six months in a distance education unit of a private university, we investigated how resourcing unfolds in response to unexpected changes that impose resource constraints on teaching practices. The research involved 42 interviews with managers, online lecturers, and staff, as well as document analysis and observations. Grounded in an ontology of practices and processes, the analysis identified three dynamics of resourcing - responsive, configurational, and occupational - which describe how actors mobilize resources to cope with time, space, and professional role constraints. This study contributes to the understanding of the interactions between strategy and resourcing, offering practical implications for educational organizations in rapidly changing and uncertain contexts.
