Mecanismos de intensificación en el discurso populista español
The present study examines the different mechanisms of intensification used in parliamentary speeches of the political parties Vox and Podemos. The already studied and confirmed characterization of both parties as populist parties ensures that both share numerous defining traits in their discourses, despite having radically different ideologies. Therefore, the analysis of intensification, an essential element of the persuasive and political discourse, in speeches of these two parties aims to clarify the real scope of these similarities or, on the contrary, to confirm what differentiates them. In order to achieve this, the reply turns and interpellations of each political party, as documented in the Session Journals of the Congress and the Senate, have been analyzed. Throughout this research, it will be noted that both parties share most of the intensifying mechanisms analyzed, both the general ones and the specific ones. Even so, some differences will be evident and the type of intensification employed by each party will be understood as the only differential feature.
