Evaluation of cytotoxic activity of amaranthus roxburghianus ethanolic extract by using in - vitro ldh assay
Amaranthus roxburghianus has been traditionally recognized for its potential therapeutic properties. This study investigates its pharmacological impact on cell viability, focusing on cytotoxicity and proliferative effects. Extracts were prepared from vario us plant parts and subjected to in vitro analysis using established cell lines, including CHO cells. Dose - dependent assays were conducted to assess cytotoxicity, employing markers such as LDH release and MTT reduction. Preliminary findings indicate that Am aranthus roxburghianus exhibits selective cytotoxic effects at higher concentrations, while promoting cell viability at lower doses. These results suggest the potential dual role of the plant as both a cytotoxic agent for targeted applications and a viabil ity enhancer for cellular repair. Further investigations are warranted to identify active compounds, underlying mechanisms, and therapeutic applications. The present study aimed to evaluate the cytotoxic potential of Amaranthus roxburghianus ethanolic extr act using an in vitro lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) assay.
