Gas Hydrates in cryolithozone

The paper is dedicated to the 120th anniversary of the birth of Academician of the USSR Academy of Sciences Nikolai Vasilyevich Chersky, one of the discoverers of the property of natural gas to form gas hydrate deposits in the Earth's crust. Brief information about gas hydrates and the background of the scientific discovery are presented. Some historical aspects of the formation and development of the laboratory of technogenic gas hydrates of the Institute of Oil and Gas Problems of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the main areas of research, as well as the most important results obtained in recent years are presented.
