This research addresses the study of the housing units located in the archeological site Malpaís de Tacámbaro, La Garita sector, Michoacán, México. The first results of the spatial analysis carried out using DepthmapX software and the theory of Spatial Syntax are presented, taking up the concept of space and its relationship with society, arguing that the architectural organization of La Garita could be linked to the formation of quahtas (house), a Purépecha term on which political, social and territorial relations were based throughout the territory of Michoacán in antiquity.
