Study of Eficacy Various Insecticide to Silverleaf Whitefly (<i>Bemisia tabaci</i> G.)
Abstract Whitefly ( Bemisia tabaci G.) is one of the major pests of tobacco plants that is commonly controlled using synthetic insecticides. The use of these insecticides has negative impacts such as resistance, recurrence, and environmental damage. Therefore, environmentally friendly control alternatives are needed, one of which is paraffin oil. Paraffin oil is known to be effective as an insecticide and can be combined with synthetic insecticides. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the combination of paraffin oil with several active ingredients of synthetic insecticides on whitefly mortality. The method used was topical spraying directly on the pest, and the data were analyzed using ANOVA followed by Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT) to compare treatment means. The results showed that the combination of 20% dimethoate and 80% paraffin oil was effective in increasing whitefly mortality.
