Stimuli-responsive metal-organic frameworks for optoelectronic data processing and in-memory computing

We report on a series of optoelectronic data processing and storage with stimuli-responsive metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). First, we demonstrate neuromorphic computing with a light-responsive MOF single crystals. The electronic states of such MOF can be modulated by laser light, resulting to spike behavior. Through the electronic control of the amplitude and polarity of the spikes, we demonstrate binary optoelectronic data processing followed by neuromorphic behavior upon the laser light. The latter allows us to recognize the handwritten text over 50 times with app. 100 % accuracy. Then, based on MOF single crystals, thin films in the ReRAM prototype, as well as ultra-thin MOFs, we demonstrate the electronic data recording and logical operations with binary data (adding numbers). Herein, we use the imperfection of the MOF-based ReRAM prototype to form an encrypted key providing unique/personal access to such operations. Finally, we report on series of stimuli-responsive MOFs for optoelectronic data processing, modulation, and storage on a single crystal level.
