Modification of the hygroscopic properties of a low-toxicity photopolymer

The optimization of water-soluble, acrylate-based and low-toxicity holographic photopolymer (Biophotopol) functionalized with MPC (2-methacryloyloxyethyl phosphorylcholine) for holographic humidity sensing applications was researched. By adjusting the concentrations of triethanolamine (TEA) and MPC the material hygroscopic properties were tuned to enhance its response to environmental humidity variations. Experimental results demonstrated that higher MPC concentrations significantly increased Bragg wavelength redshift. These findings suggest that MPC-functionalized Biophotopol can be a promising candidate for advanced holographic sensors, offering enhanced sensitivity and real-time response capabilities for humidity monitoring in various applications.
