Fundamental tools in the design of hololens-based optical devices
Today, holography-based photonic devices are becoming increasingly important in many fields of application. Holographic lenses (HL) work by diffraction and can replace the behavior of conventional refractive lenses, which are much more expensive. These lenses have spectral and angular dependence, which makes them particularly interesting. Probably the best known traditional application is their use as holographic solar concentrators in photovoltaics. In this work holographic lenses have been recorded into a novel photopolymer with low toxicity properties called Biophotopol. Photopolymer concentrations have been optimized. Fundamental parameters such as shrinkage and swelling have been modeled. For this purpose, the bending phenomenon has been studied by fitting theoretical models. Furthermore, their application as holographic solar concentrators has been evaluated and the theoretical and experimental concentration ratio (CR) has been calculated. Finally, the holographic concentrators have also been analyzed under white light conditions using a solar simulator and acceptance angles have been obtained.
