48 (20B) Impact of a massive open online course on knowledge about current and previous recommendations on sport-related concussions
time.Abnormalities on neurological exam, neuroimaging, and neuropsychological testing are considered. Our approach involves inventory of pain, cognitive, mood, and sleep-related symptoms, and discussion of concussion/RHI exposure, lifestyle, and the athlete's perception of risk and values related to sport participation.Testing of cognitive, autonomic, and vestibular-ocular function is performed, along with blood tests and brain MRI.For select patients, we obtain sleep or genetic testing, advanced neuroimaging, or neurodegenerative biomarkers.Aggressive multidisciplinary symptom management and continued exercise promote quality of life, with or without continued sport participation. Conclusion Prospective collection of clinical and biomarker data in athletes with concussion and RHI exposure will allow improved guidelines for retirement consideration and recommendations to decrease risk of later-in-life impairment.
