Robust Sensor Fault Detection Using Set-Membership Threshold for Uncertain Systems and Its Application to Aero-Engine Control System

This article proposes a robust sensor fault detection method using set-membership threshold for the uncertain systems subject to unknown disturbance, measurement noise and parameter uncertainties. First, a robust fault detection observer is designed based on H</i>–=L</i>∞ analysis with considering the finite frequency characteristics of fault signal. Then, a residual evaluation method based on the dynamic threshold generated by set-membership method is proposed. The structures of the parameter uncertainties are considered in the threshold generation to reduce conservatism. In addition, a fault isolation strategy based on setmembership threshold is presented. Finally, a hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) experiment of aero-engine control system is conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
