Vaginal Varix in Pregnancy
( N Engl J Med . 2025;392(4):e13. doi: 10.1056/NEJMicm2412464) The article "Vaginal Varix in Pregnancy," published in The New England Journal of Medicine , presents a case study of a 31-year-old woman at 35 weeks and 2 days of gestation who was referred to a high-risk obstetrics clinic for evaluation of a vaginal lesion. The patient's first pregnancy and vaginal delivery, 2 years prior, had been uncomplicated. The vaginal lesion was asymptomatic and was discovered during a routine third-trimester prenatal visit. On physical examination, a nontender purple mass was noted on the left side of the vaginal wall, protruding into the introitus.
