Case 1-2025: A 35-Year-Old Woman With Shortness of Breath and Edema in the Legs
( N Engl J Med . 2025;392(2):186-94. doi: 10.1056/NEJMcpc2402498) The article presents the case of a 35-year-old woman who was admitted to the hospital for shortness of breath and edema in her legs. The patient had a history of obesity and advanced maternal age and was induced for labor at 39 weeks of pregnancy due to concerns about a small-for-gestational-age fetus. She had no prior history of hypertension and began taking low-dose aspirin during pregnancy to decrease the risk of preeclampsia. After an uncomplicated vaginal delivery, her blood pressure remained normal, and she was discharged home.
