Perinatal Outcomes After Regional Analgesia During Labour
( Aust N Z J Obstet Gynaecol . 2024;64(4):334–340. doi: 10.1111/ajo.13797) Analgesia during labor can be administered in several forms, including regional analgesia in the form of epidural, spinal, or combined epidural-spinal nerve blocks. Some evidence presented in recent years has raised concerns about the effects of regional analgesia on maternal and neonatal outcomes, including both short-term and long-term outcomes. Due to these concerns, recent studies have attempted to characterize these associations but have presented conflicting evidence. This study was designed to assess maternal and neonatal outcomes in individuals who received regional analgesia compared to those who did not receive it.
