Diastereoselective reaction to construct polycyclic spiroindolines from 3-(2-isocyanoethyl)indoles and ynones

A cascade reaction of tryptamine-derived isocyanide and ynone under transition metal-free conditions has been developed. This domino transformation allows for the synthesis of polycyclic spiroindolines with excellent diastereoselectivity.
