Practice-Oriented Teaching of Mathematics as a Means of Increasing Learning Motivation

The main focus in mathematics education is on increasing learning motivation and preparing students to apply mathematics to solve problems in everyday life. One of the applied technologies that enhance interest in the subject, form motivation and creative activity, involvement in learning activities of students is practice-oriented learning. The aim of the study is to develop real-life experience of solving applied problems through practice-oriented learning in mathematics. Despite the fact that the practice-oriented approach facilitates the formation of intrinsic motivation for learning and provides opportunities for research, self-education and creativity, the implemented innovative pedagogical technologies are implemented slowly, facing some problems. The main problem is the detachment of training courses from practice and analysis of everyday life situations. As a result, students lose a positive attitude to the studied material and find it difficult to assimilate it. The relevance of the chosen topic is explained by the organization of the learning process in such a way that it is cognitive in nature and the knowledge acquired by the students is applied, due to which the activities of the students turned out to be successful. The research used the methods of analysis, synthesis, generalization, study of pedagogical experience, questionnaire and survey. Practical application of derivative functions in mathematics will help final grade students to realize the applied orientation of the school course of the beginning of mathematical analysis to solve real problems. Differential calculus will help first-year students of economic specialities to solve industrial and applied problems. The authors note that the reliability of the study and the validity of the conclusions drawn on their basis are guaranteed by the consistent discussion of the stages of the pedagogical experience that showed the effectiveness of the developed methodology, as well as the dissemination of the pedagogical experience among teachers of mathematics and university teachers. The results of the study can be used in teaching mathematics in schools and universities.
