A RELAÇÃO ENTRE SAÚDE PERIODONTAL EM PACIENTES COM ANSIEDADE E DEPRESSÃO: UMA ANÁLISE DOS MECANISMOS SUBJACENTES
ABSTRACT The purpose of this study is to correlate oral health and mental health and promote a literature review in order to understand how depression and anxiety affect everyday life considering the physical, behavioral and emotional impacts that these conditions can have on oral health and harm routine basic hygiene habits, such as brushing that influences biofilm accumulation, consequently in caries and periodontal diseases. We chose to deepen the impact of these disorders on periodontal diseases, which are chronic inflammations in the tissues that support the tooth, which can generate in its worst condition the loss of the dental element. Taking into account the systemic factors and the oral microbiome, which also interfere by triggering the worsening of gingival tissues, requiring multidisciplinary understanding in patients suffering from psychological disorders. The relevance of this study is to contribute and stimulate more effective and integrated preventive and therapeutic strategies, providing relevant information for more humanized clinical practices.
