Nanomaterials in Environmental Remediation: Harnessing the Versatility of Carbon-Based Nanomaterials for Sustainable Solutions

The creation and use of nanomaterials to mitigate environmental concerns is becoming more and more popular as environmental sustainability becomes a global priority. With their remarkable adsorption capacities, large SAs, and adjustable surface chemistries, carbon-based nanomaterials (CBNs), like carbon nanotubes (CNTs), graphene, activated carbon (AC), and carbon nanocomposites are well suited for a variety of environmental applications. The development of sustainable technology thus has a promising new frontier in the environmental applications of CBNs. These materials are probably going to be more and more important as research goes on in helping to mitigate environmental issues and accelerate the shift to a more sustainable and eco-friendly future. In this regard, the aim of the current review is to elucidate a thorough review while highlighting the adaptability of the various and changing roles that carbon-based materials play in tackling environmental concerns. This review clarifies the utilization of CBNs in the purification process to eliminate organic pollutants, heavy metals, and emerging contaminants. The emphasis has also been placed on the continued research and development in this area, highlighting the materials’ ability to spur innovation and offer long-term solutions for a more hygienic and sustainable environment.
