Biodiesel Production from Sapindus mukorossi Seed Oils Using Egg Shell Nanocatalyst
The utilization of non-edible seed oils for biodiesel production has emerged as a sustainable solution, mitigating concerns related to food competition. This paper focuses on the innovative use of eggshellderived nano catalysts in the Transesterification process of non-edible seed oils, exploring their catalytic efficiency and environmental implications. The study investigates the feasibility of oils from sources such as Sapindus mukorossi as viable alternative. The novelty of this research lies in the application of eggshellderived nano catalysts for Transesterification for the preparation of biodiesel from Sapindus mukorossi seed oil. Eggshells, often considered waste, are transformed into nano catalysts through a cost-effective process. The oil yield obtained from the Sapindus mukorossi is 41.58 %. Experimental results show case the efficiency of eggshell nano catalysts in promoting the Transesterification reaction, with a focus on optimizing reaction conditions and catalyst dosage. The use of such catalysts not only enhances the biodiesel yield but also addresses the environmental impact associated with conventional catalysts. The biodiesel yield obtained is 86.45 %. In conclusion, the study underscores the promising prospects of utilizing non-edible Sapindus mukorossi seed oils in conjunction with eggshell nano catalysts for biodiesel production. This synergistic approach contributes to the development of a more sustainable and economically feasible biodiesel industry, aligning with global efforts to transition towards renewable energy sources.
