Artificial Neural Networks in Russian Libraries: Current Status and Implementation Program

The article presents an analysis of the state of and prospects for the implementation of artificial neural networks in Russian libraries. The authors investigate various aspects of the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in library activities, including its impact on librarianship in general, the current practice of using neural networks in Russian libraries, as well as the reasons that hinder its active implementation. A program is proposed that can increase the intensity of the use of AI in Russian library practice. It includes the development of methodological guidelines and training courses on the use of neural networks, the involvement of creative forces of the developers of AI applications, the creation of specialized tools and resources (labeled data sets) for the implementation of specific library tasks, and cooperation with large domestic IT companies. The expected results of the implementation of artificial neural networks in the practice of Russian libraries are described and the importance of their active use for improving the quality and expanding the range of services provided by libraries is emphasized.
