A Psychological Study of the Poetry of Kishwar Naheed
The twentieth century is a century of revolutions, movements, trends, and geographical changes. The specific conditions of this century greatly affected human life. The study of psychological elements is critical in the motivations affecting human life. After Freud’s model of the human psyche came into public view, it became possible to recover human psychological confusions in poetry and literature. Kishwar Naheed holds a unique place among the important female voices of the twentieth century. Kishwar Naheed was born in an ordinary Muslim family of the sub-continent, but the author was faced with the outdated customs of eastern families since childhood. Due to the social oppression, the author continued her education journey with a protest attitude. In her Urdu poetry and prose, the author draws attention to several psychological confusions. Social attitudes and hatred have become the tragedy of the current society. Disappointed by these attitudes, the author’s attitude has also been aggressive. Kishwar Naheed presented personal anguish and internal incidents in her works with excellence, while the author’s pen has also been flowing against inhuman atrocities in the world. Kishwar Naheed’s voice is also known for her recovery of women’s rights. This article deals with the psychological elements in her poetry.
