Efektivitas Mediasi Dalam Penyelesaian Sengketa Perceraian di Pengadilan Agama: Perspektif Hukum Keluarga Islam (Studi Kasus di Kota Metro)

This study analyzes the effectiveness of mediation in resolving divorce disputes in the Religious Court of Metro City from the perspective of Islamic family law. Mediation is expected to reduce the divorce rate and maintain the integrity of the household. Using a qualitative approach and case study method, data were obtained through interviews, observations, and documentation of divorce cases that underwent the mediation process. The results show that although the mediation procedure has been carried out, the success rate is low. Inhibiting factors include the emotional readiness of the parties, the quality of the mediator, and the complexity of the conflict. In Islam, mediation is in line with the principle of ishlah which emphasizes peace in the household. Therefore, a more humanistic mediation approach based on Islamic values is needed. This is important to resolve disputes fairly, peacefully, and beneficially
