Evaluation of wear behaviour of stir and squeeze cast A356/SiC/Gr hybrid composites using TOPSIS method

This paper investigates the influence of stir and squeeze cast processes on the dry sliding wear behaviour of A356/ SiCp (5 wt. %) / Gr (0-5 wt. %) hybrid composites. Micro-Vickers hardness test and microstructural analysis using SEM was performed. Wear and friction behaviour was conducted on pin-on-disc tribometer in room temperature by varying the load, sliding distance and composite type. The optimised wear rate was obtained through TOPSIS method with varying parameters like load, distance, stir and squeeze cast composites. The results reveals that minimum wear and friction was achieved at load 10 N, sliding distance 1,200 m in B1 composite in stir cast composites while load 10 N, sliding distance 2,800 m, and A2 composite for squeeze cast composites. These results indicates level of reinforcements in composite was most influential parameter for stir cast while applied load was the influential parameter for squeeze cast composites.

These results indicates level of reinforcements in composite was most influential parameter for stir cast while applied load was the influential parameter for squeeze cast composites.
